A planar laminated insulating panel (1), particularly- suitable for use externally in the insulation of a building structure, includes a layer of aerogel fibre composite material (2), sandwiched between first and second layers (4, 6) of a relatively flexible, in isolation, protective plastic sheet material, by bonding with an adhesive (8, 9). The laminated insulating panel (1) has sufficient rigidity in use so as to be self supporting. Also provided are a method for manufacturing the insulating panels, an insulating system for a structure using the insulating panels and a method for insulating a building structure. |
