<p>One embodiment of the present invention comprises a first layer defining a plurality of inlets and a plurality of injection ports, a second layer defining a plurality of outlets, the second layer being disposed adjacent to, but spaced apart from, the first layer, and a plurality of conduits, each sealably connecting and placing in fluid communication a respective one of the inlets to a respective one of the outlets, the conduits extending across a space between the first layer and second layer. The first and second layers are sized and configured so as to define at least one pathway between the first and second layers, wherein the pathway is in fluid communication with the injection ports, so that when a first fluid feed and a second fluid feed are under sufficient respective pressure conditions, the first fluid feed enters the pathway between the first and second layers from at least one direction substantially parallel with the first and second layers and the first fluid feed exits the pathway through the injection ports, and the second fluid feed flows in a direction toward and substantially perpendicular to the first layer, thereby mixing with the first fluid feed passing through the injection ports in counter-flow to form a mixture feed comprised of the first fluid and the second fluid.</p> |
