Data communicating is provided to offer provide systems and methods for multi-port read and write operations. A computer(12) can set one, two, three or all four of its read lines(18) such that it is prepared to receive data from the respective one, two, three or all four adjacent computers. Similarly, it is also possible for the computer to set one, two, three or all four of its write lines(20) high. When one of the adjacent computers(12a,12b,12c,12d) sets a write line between itself and the computer(12e) high, if the computer has already set the corresponding read line high, then a word is transferred from that computer to the computer on the associated data lines(22). The sending computer will release the write line and the receiving computer pulls both the write line and the read line low.
