A liquid crystal panel contributive to thinning and having a wideband and a wide view angle in which color shift is suppressed, good color reproducibility is attained, and leakage of light can be prevented well in black display. The liquid crystal panel comprises a liquid crystal cell (40), a first polarizer (11) arranged on one side of the liquid crystal cell, a second polarizer (12) arranged on the other side of the liquid crystal cell, a first optical compensation layer (21) and a first negative C plate (31) arranged between the first polarizer and the liquid crystal cell, and a second negative C plate (32) and a second optical compensation layer (22) arranged between the liquid crystal cell and the second polarizer. The first optical compensation layer (21) is arranged between the first polarizer (11) and the first negative C plate (31), and the second optical compensation layer (22) is arranged between the second negative C plate (32) and the second polarizer (12). The first and second optical compensation layers (21, 22) are coating layers functioning as U/4 plates and respectively have a thickness of 0.3-3 mum. The first and second negative C plates (31, 32) are coating layers and respectively have a thickness of 0.5-10 mum.
