PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data management device capable of copying and moving data without breaking the layer structure thereof, and a control program and a control method therefor. SOLUTION: In an image forming device comprises at least a printer which executes processing based on image data, a storage part which stores file data such as image data or print data in a hierarchical structure, an operation part, and a control part, the control part performs, when copying and moving file data stored in a storage source such as the storage part to a storage destination such as an external storage part or a detachably installed storage medium or an external device, the copy and the movement based on layers of the directory of the storage source and the directory of the storage destination according to a predetermined rule so that the directory of the storage source or the file data is copied and moved while maintaining a host directory when the directory of the storage destination is higher in level than the host directory in which the directory of the storage source is contained.
