PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass sealing body in which a space made by sealing between two glass panels by solder is highly sealed; and to provide a sealing method therefor. SOLUTION: The glass sealing body is a glass sealing body having a solder joining area between two pieces of glass, wherein a confinement layer which penetrates in the thickness direction of the solder joining area and divides the solder joining area in a cross direction is formed on the solder joining area, the confinement layer is a solidified portion made by melting the solder joining area by a laser beam, and an area occupying rate of the voids of the confinement layer is not more than 0.5 time that of the solder joining layer. The glass sealing body according to the present invention is also the glass sealing body having the solder joining area between two pieces of glass, wherein the confinement layer which penetrates in the thickness direction of the solder joining area and divides the solder joining area in the cross direction is formed on the solder joining area, the confinement layer is a solidified portion made by melting the solder joining area by a laser beam, and the area occupying rate of the voids of the confinement layer is not more than 7%.
