The cap (4) has a housing (8) having a cap operatively configured for placement on a side of the housing of the seat belt retractor (1) which is assigned to a sensor. The cap is made of aluminium. An adhesive plate (11) is arranged inside the cap, the adhesive plate adhesively adheres the cap to the housing. The adhesive plate is made of an elastomer such as butyl adhesive. An independent claim is included for a seat belt component.
