Structural tie with acoustic attenuation

A connector 10 for use as a structural tie or strap in the construction industry comprises a substantially rectangular member with first and second ends 36, 38 on a first axis. Fastening points 20a-f are provided at each end for fastening to walls or the like. The connector 10 includes an acoustic attenuation mechanism to enhance acoustic performance between the walls. The acoustic attenuation mechanism is embodied as folds and/or apertures 60, 62 through the connector which prevent direct passage of sound and vibration waves through the connector, between the walls. The connector 10 may have a reinforcing rib 22. An embodiment as a party wall strap is described.
