A first progressive cavity apparatus rotor is made by placing a core in a mould with a helically shaped bore, filling a void between the core and mould with a fluid, solidifying the fluid and then removing the mould from the solidified material. A second rotor 500 is made by placing a core 504 in a tube 506 which has a helically shaped outer surface 508, filling a void between the core 504 and tube 506 with a fluid 502 and then solidifying the fluid 502. A third rotor 500 is made by placing a tube 506 and a core 504 in a mould with a helically shaped bore, conforming the tube 506 to the shape of the mould, filling a void between the core 504 and tube with a fluid 502, solidifying the fluid 502 and then removing the mould from the tube 502. Forming the tube onto the mould may be done by hydroforming, using the fluid material, twisting and compressing the tube or by sucking the tube onto the mould. |
