A system for detecting the fault of a leased line in a remote monitoring and controlling system is provided to enable only an RTU main communication line to be connected to a line checking device in a normal state and enable a communication line connected to the line checking device to be electrically separated from the line checking device to check the abnormality of the RTU and a communication error in the line checking device, thereby transmitting the abnormal state to a monitoring/controlling PC by remote and restoring the abnormal state quickly. A system for detecting the fault of a leased line in a remote monitoring and controlling system includes a monitoring/controlling PC(Personal Computer)(202), a business provider network of a remote monitoring line of an unmanned monitoring/controlling facility, an RTU(Remote Terminal Unit)(101), a line checking device(102), and a line switching device(103). The RTU is installed in the unmanned monitoring/controlling facility to communicate with the monitoring/controlling PC through the business provider network. The line checking device communicates with the RTU with respect to whether there is an error on a line, and communicates with the monitoring/controlling PC through the business provider network. The line switching device switches a line connection between the business provider network and the RTU or between the business provider network and the line checking device. The line switching device holds the line connection between the business provider network and the RTU in a normal state. The RTU transmits the abnormal signal of the line checking device to the monitoring/controlling PC when the line checking device detects an error. |
