The heat exchanger for the exchange of heat between one medium (M1) in an elongated tube space and a second medium (M2) in an enclosing jacket space (20) has a hood (21), which can be separated from the rest of the jacket space, a connector (13) with a compensator (50) and a flange (61), and which does not extend beyond the extent of the hood, and a second connector (14), incorporating a flange (63), for feed or discharge of the first medium into the tube space and is fastened on the flange of the first connector and on the hood in such a way that the tube space is sealed in relation to the environment and the jacket space just as the jacket space is sealed in relation to the environment.
