<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording parameter setup method for forming recording marks which obtain more reliably excellent reproduced signals while suppressing the number of recording parameters. <P>SOLUTION: The recording parameter setup method has at least one of a first, second, and third recording parameter classifying processes. Especially, in the second and third recording parameter classifying processes, the recording parameter groups for controlling the heat on the rear edges of the recording marks are classified at least by the recording mark length in the recording information. In the second recording parameter classifying process, the recording parameter groups from the first predetermined recording mark length to the maximum recording mark length are classified into the same group.
