PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for efficiently and stably preparing fluorescent coloring material-containing nano-silica particles having high fluorescent intensity, to provide fluorescent coloring material-containing nano-silica particles obtained by the method, and to provide its application as a detection reagent. SOLUTION: The fluorescent coloring material-containing nano-silica particles are prepared through the following stages (a) to (d): a stage (a) where a fluorescent coloring material bonding group is introduced into the surface of each nano-silica particle via the OH group thereof; a stage (b) where each nano-silica particle obtained by the above stage is reacted with a compound having fluorescent coloring material molecules, so as to bond a fluorescent coloring material to the surface of each nano-silica particle; a stage (c) where each fluorescent coloring material-bonded nano-silica particle obtained by the above stage is reacted with a silica compound, so as to introduce the silica compound into the fluorescent coloring material-bonded group in the surface of each fluorescent coloring material-bonded nano-silica particle; and a stage (d) where each nano-silica particle obtained by the above stage is reacted with a silane compound, so as to form a silica film on the surface of each nano-silica particle.
