<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color photographic image which becomes sharp even to a distant view. <P>SOLUTION: Object light passing through a single photographing optical system 13 is separated into visible light and infrared light by a light separating means 14. An image of the separated visible light is imaged by a visible light imaging means 11 and an image of the infrared light is imaged by an infrared light imaging means 12, while being synchronized with each other. A contour signal generating means 21 extracts a high frequency component from a luminance signal Y2 included in an image signal obtained from the infrared light imaging means 12, and generates a contour emphasized signal Y3. An adding means 22 adds the contour emphasized signal Y3 to a luminance signal Y1 included in an image signal obtained from the visible light imaging means 11.
