PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device that reduces the wiring resistance of scanning lines, or the like, and that is operable at a high-speed. SOLUTION: The electro-optical device comprises pixels each of which includes a pixel electrode 108 and a thin-film transistor 100 for controlling the switching of the pixel electrode; a plurality of data lines 104, extended in parallel with one another in a columnar direction of image display areas and connecting the source areas 204 of the thin-film transistors 100 in the column direction; a plurality of scanning lines 102 for connecting the gate electrodes 208 of the thin-film transistors 100 in a row direction, wherein each gate electrode 208 is formed of non-metal material. Each scanning line 102 is formed by patterning a thin film of a metallic material which is laminated on the gate electrode 208 via an insulating film and electrically connected to each gate electrode 208 via a first contact hole 501 formed by locally removing the insulating film.
