The coupler has a transverse element (1) provided at a pipe filling end. A longitudinal opening and a transverse recess are provided at the pipe filling end. The transverse element is designed as T or L-shaped transverse bar. The longitudinal opening is designed in an L-shape. The transverse bar exhibits a geometrical form, which causes a longitudinal locking of the transverse bar after pivoting into the transverse recess in a working position. A locking device consists of a mounting recess. An independent claim is also included for a method for coupling a set of pipe sections.
