<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably classify and organize a plurality of image files so as to easily retrieve the image files based on date information. <P>SOLUTION: In this image file management device, when a user inputs the date information by operation of a button group 24 and a touch pen in a diary mode, the image file corresponding to the date information is retrieved by an image retrieval part 702, and is read from a memory card M. A layout information file including retrieval guidance information is generated to the retrieved image file by a layout information file generation part 703.
