PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a tetracyclododecene stably and efficiently. SOLUTION: The method for producing tetracyclododecene by heating and causing (a) ethylene, (b) highly pure cyclopentadiene or dicyclopentadiene having purity of higher than 95% by weight and (c) a norbornene to react with each other, is characterized in that a mean residence time of the reaction mass in a reactor is 0.1 to 10 minutes.
