PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve slidability of a signature relative to a belt in the lateral direction, to prevent the signature from being damaged, and to restrict abrasion of a conveying belt, while securing the signature conveying performance. SOLUTION: A signature W is folded in parallel by pushing a chopper blade 52 from above to the conveyed signature W. A woven fabric is provided in the conveying surfaces of the conveyor belts 21, 22, 23 and 24 for conveying the signature W. Texture H of the conveying surface has a grid pattern inclined at about 45°against the conveying direction C. A coefficient of abrasion to be required to convey the signature W can be maintained in the conveying direction C, and even if the speed is raised, the signature W conveying performance can be secured.
