The invention relates to a device for processing or treating surfaces by means of a dry ice granulate. Said device comprises a storage container for holding a dry ice medium, especially dry ice pellets, an inlet for supplying a propellant medium, an outlet for supplying a mixture of the propellant me dium and the dry ice granulate to a blast gun and an intermediary discharge compartment. A mill work is arranged in the path between the storage contain er and the discharge compartment and is configured to reduce the dry ice med ium to a dry ice granulate having a particle size in a defined range. A tran sport roller (4) is interposed between the mill work (3) and the discharge c ompartment (59), the transport roller (4) being operable with varying speed to vary the amount of particles of the dry ice granulate per time unit. The invention also relates to a corresponding method and to the use of said meth od.
