[Also in Group XXV] A locking device between a drum 2 and a fixed side plate 1 comprises toothed sliding members 14, 15, carried between guide plates 10, 11, 12, secured to the side plate 1, and adapted to engage toothed segments 6, 7 carried by the drum. The drum 2 is rotatably mounted on a spindle 3 secured to the plate 1. A wedge 20 has inclined faces 18, 19 which engage faces 17 on the sliding members 14, 15 and the wedge carries a pin 22 which is located in a vertical slot 23 in the plate 1 and engages arcuate slot 26 in a control plate 27 attached to a control lever 29. A spring 30 urges the control lever 29 in a clockwise direction to force the wedge 20 upwardly and thereby force the toothed sliding members 14, 15 into engagement with the toothed segment 6, 7. Manual movement of the lever 29 in the direction of the arrow F causes downward movement of the wedge 20 which allows disengagement of the sliding members 14, 15. The sectors 6, 7 may be replaced by an internally-toothed crown wheel for relative movements of one revolution or more. |
