摘要 A method for protecting a lumber section and a cervical section of a driver in a rear side collision is provided to absorb collision impact by allowing a seat back to be bent forward in the case of the rear side collision. A method for protecting a lumber section and a cervical section of a driver in a rear side collision comprises the step of bending a seat back forward at a moderate speed through a shock absorption device(3) in the rear side collision. A maximum bending angle is controlled by a wire installed on a link(4) used for connecting the shock absorption device. The link is mounted to a seat frame(5). The shock absorption device is provided with a piston having a fluid transfer hole. Mobility of fluid is determined by a cross section of the fluid transfer hole. A pressure difference of two spaces defined by the piston allows a valve to control the fluid transfer hole. The valve has elastic properties. The valve is mounted at two sides of the piston to apply reaction to the seat back.
