PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating a nuclear power plant which enables its uprating by improving the efficiency of it without any substantial changes in the configuration of plant components in regard to the uprating of the nuclear power plant. SOLUTION: The method for operating the nuclear power plant to uprate it has the step of reducing pressure loss by using a steam governing valve 2a of a low-pressure loss type, an optimization step of optimizing at least a nozzle in the first stage at the entrance of a high-pressure turbine 3 and the uprating step of enhancing the output through the improvement in the efficiency of the plant by using the steam governing valve 2a of a low-pressure loss type and at least the nozzle in the first stage at the entrance of the high-pressure turbine 3 where the nozzle is optimized.
