PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a taphole opening apparatus which can efficiently perform a restoring work of a blast furnace after a temperature drop thereof. SOLUTION: The taphole opening apparatus 30 includes a drifter 31 as a drill, a guide cell 34 that advanceably and retractably guides the drifter 31 along the drilling direction, and a supporting frame 36 that simultaneously pivotally supporting and lifting the rear part of the guide cell 34 through a lift rod 38. The rear end of the guide cell 34 is rotatably linked to one end of a first actuator 40 capable of performing extension and contraction actuation, and the other end of the first actuator 40 is rotatably linked to the rear end of the supporting frame 36. The contraction actuation of the first actuator 40 turns the guide cell 34 about a pivot shaft 39 to direct the drifter 31 toward a region 5 for ordinary taphole to open an ordinary taphole 15. The extension actuation of the first actuator 40 turns the guide cell 34 about the pivot shaft 39 to direct the drifter 31 toward a region 7 for temporary taphole to open a temporary taphole 16.
