PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel for fishing, which has a new structure capable of improving the operability in casting. SOLUTION: The spinning reel includes an elastically deformable restriction member 60 placed at the side of a rotor 2 and moving to a position to restrict the rotation of the rotor 2 operatively connected to the swinging operation of supporting members 2d, 2e to the line-releasing position, a first contacting means protruding from a side of the reel body 1, temporarily applying a rotational resistance to the rotor 2 by contacting with the restriction member 60 by the rotation of the restriction member 60 in the winding direction of the rotor 2 and allowing resilient deformation of the restriction member 60 to enable the surmounting of the restriction member 60, and a second contacting means contacting with the resiliently restored restriction member 60 surmounted over the first contacting means and restricting the rotation of the restriction member in the winding direction of the rotor 2.
