<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote operation apparatus capable of performing video display adjustment based on the ambient environment of a user, and a video display system. <P>SOLUTION: A remote operation apparatus 10 to be operated by a user includes: a remote operation apparatus environment detecting means 11 for detecting remote operation apparatus environment information indicating a utility environment around the remote operation apparatus 10, and a transmission means 12 for transmitting to a video display device 20 the remote operation apparatus environment information detected by the remote operation apparatus environment detecting means 11.
