PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera for reducing power consumption by suitably switching between an imaging ready state requiring prescribed power and a stand-by state whose power consumption is less than the prescribed power. SOLUTION: The camera (10) for shifting its state between the imaging ready state requiring the prescribed power and the stand-by state whose power consumption is less than the prescribed power is provided with detection parts (17, 18) for detecting the photographer's pupil (50) and/or a specific object (40) in a photographing image frame (S) and a control part (11) for controlling state transition between the imaging ready state and the stand-by state on the basis of the detection results of the detection parts (17, 18).
