PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device capable of easily and accurately measuring the amount of movement of a cylindrical roller in a radial inward direction in a sub-assembly 10 for rolling bearings that has an outer ring and a plurality of cylindrical rollers and cages. SOLUTION: In the method, a contact 2 is installed on one end 17a of a swing member 1 swingable up and down and that abuts, from underneath, on a cylindrical roller located on the top of the sub-assembly 10. The contact 2 has a magnet 21. A dial gauge 8 for measuring the amount of swing of a swing member 1 is installed on the other end 17b of the swing member 1. Thus, a dial gauge 8 measures the amount of swing of the swing member 1 that swings by depressing the contact 2, while the contact 2 abuts on the cylindrical roller by the magnet 21, from a state in which the cylindrical roller is in contact with the raceway surface.
