PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of a tooth tip lock state that engagement teeth are not meshed with rack teeth. SOLUTION: This steering column device is provided with a lock bolt 17 inserted to a pair of tilt holes 13a, 14a formed at a pair of side brackets 13, 14 and a pair of telescopic holes 16a, 19b formed at a distance bracket 16; a projecting part 20b of a fixation cam 20 in which the tip of the lock bolt 17 is inserted to a through hole 20e; and a cam mechanism 22 pressing the projecting part 20b against a head 17a of the lock bolt 17 to lock the distance bracket 16 or release the lock. Sets of a pair of rack teeth 19c are formed above and below the telescopic hole 19b, and sets of a pair of the engagement teeth 20d engaged with the rack teeth 19c are formed above and below the through hole 20e of the projecting part 20d. The rack teeth 19c and the engagement teeth 20d have fixed pressure anglesαand fixed tooth heights h and have tooth tip pitches 2P which are double of a conventional reference pitch P.
