PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize an ultrasonic imaging device collecting a test subject sample and treating reliably under the biopsy by projecting all the puncturing needles in the test subject into B mode images in the case where an ultrasonic probe having a two-dimensional piezoelectric element array is used. SOLUTION: By using a two-dimensional piezoelectric element array 12, when an affected site 2 at a shallow depth position is biopsied in the case where a puncture needle 51 inserted into a test subject 1 deviates to the thickness direction from the image cross section and is not shown in the B mode image, the opening width of the thickness direction for transmitting and receiving ultrasound is maximized with a means of switching the opening width in the thickness direction and a means of setting the opening width in the thickness direction during the predetermined period. The ultrasonic beam 92 of the thickness direction is made thick to keep the puncture needle 51 positioned in the image cross section, so that all puncture needles 51 are displayed in the B mode image 53 to surely figure out the position of the puncture needle 51 in the test subject 1, thereby realizing the biopsy without mistakes.
