PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain lactosylceramide useful as a reagent in fields of medical science, pharmacy, biochemistry etc., and a material for a medicine, a cosmetic, a food and beverage, a feed etc. SOLUTION: Lactosylceramide is produced by heat-treating ganglioside GD<SB>3</SB>and/or ganglioside GM<SB>3</SB>at a pH of 3-5 at 70°C-100°C for 30 minutes-180 minutes, adjusting the resulting product to have a pH of 4.5-5.0 and concentrating the resulting solution by a method with an ultrafiltration membrane etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
