PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope, the tip of which is made to have a fine diameter and which reduces loss of outgoing light. SOLUTION: In this endoscope, an objective optical system and an imaging element are built in the tip part, and a light guide 23 is disposed in the periphery of the objective optical system 22. When the direction parallel to a long side of an imaging area of the imaging element is taken as the lateral direction, the outgoing end face of the light guide 23 is disposed only in the lateral direction of the objective optical system 22, while a tip cover 21 opposite to the outgoing end face is provided, and an illuminating light diffuse part is provided in a position of the tip cover 21 that is opposite to the outgoing end face.
