PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intestinal environment-improving composition suppressing induction of diarrhea on ingestion of hardly digestible/absorbable sweet saccharide, and a sweetening composition suppressing induction of diarrhea.

SOLUTION: The intestinal environment-improving composition comprises at least one of a water-insoluble dietary fiber and alginic acid with a reduced molecular weight. The sweetening composition comprises hardly digestible/absorbable sweet saccharide and a water-insoluble dietary fiber.
