A hole punch (10) includes a base (12) and a lever system (20) to actuate a punch (18, 98). The lever system includes a first lever (22) having an en d pivotally connected to the first end (14) of the base and a second lever ( 24) having an end pivotally connected to the second end of the base (16). Ac tuation of a free end (25) of the second lever causes the first lever to mov e. In one embodiment, a lock (140) is operatively coupled to the lever syste m and engages the first and second levers to hold the levers in a stowed pos ition. In another embodiment, the hole punch includes a third lever (32) hav ing a first end operatively coupled to the first lever and a second end oper atively coupled to the second lever.
