PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reception characteristics by estimating a channel precisely even in DFE without reencoding, and to improve burst error tolerance. SOLUTION: A radio transmitter has: an adder 102 adding an error detection bit to a bit sequence to be transmitted; encoder 103 applying systematic encoding to the bit sequence to which the error detection bit is added to generate information and parity bit sequences; first and second modulators 105A, 105B modulating the information and parity bit sequences to generate first and second modulation symbols; an assigning device 106 dispersing the first modulation symbol at least in one of frequency and time directions for assigning it to a plurality of first subcarriers and assigning the second modulation symbol to a plurality of second subcarriers different from the first ones; an OFDM modulator 107 using the first and second subcarriers to apply OFDM modulation to the first and second modulation symbols to generate an OFDM signal; and transmission sections 108, 109 converting an OFDM signal to an RF signal for transmission.
