<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device efficiently using a memory, and coping with increase of bit strings of data to be retrieved. <P>SOLUTION: The retrieval device comprises: a first retrieval table 610 defining a first bit field as a first retrieval key 110, and a second bit field as an identifier 510 among target bit fields of digital bit strings with a predetermined bit width, and including entries for holding a second retrieval key 410 arranged corresponding to each value of the first retrieval key, and corresponding to the value of the identifier, respectively; and a second retrieval table 210 which holds a content corresponding to the target bit field in the entry corresponding to the respective values of the second retrieval key.
