摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-gradation display device capable of always displaying suitable display information such as characters, graphics and still images and to provide a picture display method for the display device. SOLUTION: The number of gradations of display data are adjusted so as to be increased/decreased on the basis of a detection value of a luminance sensor. Namely, a display control part in the display device reads out a luminance value of a periphery from the luminance sensor (step S21) and then judges whether the read luminance value is bright or not (step S22). When the judgment result is bright (Yes), a number-of-gradations control part minimizes the number of gradations [small number of gradations] and writes the small number of gradations in an FPGA (step S23). When the result judged in the step S22 is not bright (No) on the othe hand, whether the read luminance value is normal or not is judged (step S24). When the judgment result is normal (Yes), the number of gradations is set to medium [medium number of gradations] and the medium number of gradations is written in the FPGA (step S25).
