PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a composite material product, capable of adjusting the ratio of ceramic to a matrix metal in a post-process. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the composite material product includes a step of preparing a matrix metal material 11 and a reinforcement member 12 having a melting point higher than that of the matrix metal material 11, a step of manufacturing a metal-based composite material 43 by impregnating the reinforcement member with the matrix metal material, a step of obtaining an adjusted composite material 58 by heating the metal-based composite material to a temperature not lower than the melting point of the matrix metal material to separate a portion of the matrix metal material 11, and a step of obtaining a product 72 by performing plastic forming of the adjusted composite material 58 in a molding die 71. The adjusted composite material is subjected to compression molding at a high-temperature state due to remaining heat in the step of obtaining the adjusted composite material.
