PURPOSE:To offer an optimum cooking system to the busy people by enabling a user to set his/her desired cooking time width and then to retrieve and display the cooking names that can be prepared within said time width. CONSTITUTION:All input actions are performed by a light pen 4 and the specific meaning is given to a specific position of the display screen of a CRT 1. Then the meaning of the specific position is received by a central control circuit 3 as the input information when said specific position is designated and detected. The desired cooking time width is outputted to a cooking time retrieving circuit 11 and the circuit 11 retrieves the cooking time corresponding to the input time width out of a cooking time memory circuit 9. Then the circuit 11 calculates the corresponding cooking number based on the address information including the relevant cooking time and outputs it to the circuit 3. The circuit 3 outputs the cooking number to a cooking name retrieving circuit 10 and then retrieves the display data on the cooking name corresponding to said cooking number out of a cooking name memory circuit 8 to output it to the circuit 3.
