The present invention involves containers and their method of manufacture. More specifically the invention relates a preprinted, unsupported, thin-film label for direct application to a container. The invention also provides a system and method for applying a thin- film label to the container surface. Figure 1 depicts an activation/application system for directly applying an unsupported thin-film label onto the surface of a tube, wherein the bonding agent is applied or activated on the label.
