APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING THIN METALLIC SHEET

PURPOSE:To remove surface defects such as longitudinal cracks and flashes and to stabilize and assure the surface quality of a product by defecting the flaws of a cast thin ingot and removing the flaws thereof, then hot rolling the thin ingot. CONSTITUTION:The thin ingot 5 solidified in a mold is drawn downward by rotating metallic plates 3 and pinch rolls 6. The flaws detected by an eddy current type flaw detector 7 disposed between the pinch rolls 6 and pinch rolls and leveling rolls 8 are removed by a hot grinder 9 for removing flaws. The thin ingot 5 removed of flaws is curved to an arc shape by bending rolls 11 and is coiled by a coiler 10. The coil is then subjected to hot rolling after heating in a holding furnace. The product having the excellent surface quality is obtd. by the apparatus constituted in the above-mentioned manner.
