PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film for mold release, which can form molded articles suitable for downsizing the articles and good in processing characteristics and qualities. SOLUTION: This polyester film for mold release is characterized by containing inert particles having an average primary particle diameter of 300 to 600 nm, and having a center line average roughness SRa of 15 to 25 nm on at least one side surface, a ten point average roughness SRz of≤400 nm, surface protrusions having sizes of 100 nm to <300 nm at a rate of≥250 protrusions/mm<SP>2</SP>, and surface protrusions having sizes of≥300 nm at a rate of≤10 protrusions/mm<SP>2</SP>.
