PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of compatibly achieving a high color saturation type and a high luminance type. SOLUTION: The projector 2 includes: a plurality of illuminating light sources 18 emitting predetermined color illuminating light, wherein at least one color illuminating light source 18g has a plurality of light source units 18gC and 18gL; and a light source color switching part 16 for selectively lighting the desired light source unit out of the illuminating light source, the plurality of light source units 18gC and 18gL.
