PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the development and design modification of a program relating to an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: When a fault is detected during the execution of a printer job, a system service execution section 83 receives a request of a notification service via a device control section 41 or the like (F01-F07). In response to the request, the system service execution section 83 executes the notification service by causing a job management section 71 to generate a notification job (F08). After the generation, the job management section 71 obtains hardware resources via a resource management section 43 and then causes an access job execution section 73b to execute the notification job via a job control section 72 (F10, F11). In response to the execution, the access job execution section 73b transmits information relating to the fault as electronic mail via a device operation section 61 or the like, thereby notifying a user about the fault (F12-F14).
