An olefin polymerization or copolymerization method is provided to produce polymer or copolymer having a wide molecular weight distribution by using a catalyst having excellent catalyst activity and hydrogen reactivity and high stereoregularity. An olefin polymerization or copolymerization method includes a step of polymerizing or copolymerizing olefin in the presence of (a) a solid titanium catalyst, (b) an organometallic compound of a group 2 or group 3 element on the periodic table, and (c) an external electron donor. The solid titanium catalyst is prepared by the steps of: dissolving a magnesium halide compound in an oxygen-containing solvent to obtain a magnesium compound solution, wherein the oxygen-containing solvent is a mixed solvent of cyclic ether and at least one alcohol compound; reacting the magnesium compound solution with a first titanium halide compound at -10 to 30 °C, heating or aging the resultant to obtain particles, and reacting the particles with a second titanium halide compound to prepare support; reacting the support with a titanium halide compound and an electron donor to prepare a titanium-supported catalyst; and washing the prepared catalyst with a hydrocarbon solvent at 40-200 °C. The external electron donor is an organic silicon compound having the following formula of (C_6H_11)_2Si(OR)_2, wherein R represents a C1-5 alkyl group.
