PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift position change-over mechanism for a transmission, capable of forcibly changing over a shift select shaft from a shift position into a neutral position during a trouble of the transmission while preventing the worsening of shift performance by actualizing smooth shift of the transmission during normal operation. SOLUTION: The shift position change-over mechanism 90 for shift removal comprises an operation lever 91, an arm member 93 for engaging with a protruded portion 94 of an outer lever 56 when moved from a stand-by position into a release position, to move the shift select shaft 51 from the shift position into the neutral position via the outer lever 56, and a shift removal cable 92 mounted between the operation lever 91 and the arm member 93 for operating the operation lever 91 to turn the arm member 93 between the stand-by position and the release position.
