<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform photometry in an imaging apparatus capable of imaging an image by switching a normal imaging mode and a combined imaging mode. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus can selectively perform a normal imaging process in the normal imaging mode and a combined imaging process in the combined imaging mode, and switches a photometry system in accordance with the imaging mode. A center part emphasis photometry system or an evaluation photometry system is performed in the normal imaging mode. An average photometry system is performed in the combined imaging mode with an enlarged dynamic range. Thus, photometry is performed, which is suitable for the normal imaging mode and the combined imaging mode respectively. Exposure control is performed based on the appropriate photometry, so that the performance of automatic exposure in the combined imaging mode is raised without deteriorating the quality of the normal imaging mode with the reduced dynamic range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
