PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone system 10 capable of freely setting a group number of a plurality of telephones 40 with a simple operation. SOLUTION: This group number setting device 30 performs multi-address transmission of the same group number to the plurality of telephones 40, associates the group number multi-address transmitted just previously with telephones 40 giving a response to the effect that the multi-address transmitted group number is registered as a group number of their own telephones 40, and registers the group number in a group number management table storing part 31. When the setting of the group number is finished, the group number setting device 30 sends to a main device 20 a group number management table for storing the group number while associating it with identification information of the respective telephones 40. The main device 20 refers to the group number management table and makes a call for designating the group number of a telephone 40 of an incoming destination to be received by the telephone 40 corresponding to the group number.
