PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display panel manufacturing method capable of effectively and suitably discharging residual gases in a discharge space without complicating the configuration when sealing the discharge space. SOLUTION: A PDP is heated up to a melting starting temperature T1, on the way to which there is provided a temperature reduction period, during which the temperature is temporarily reduced. Therefore, by contracting and expanding a gas volume in the discharge space, carbon dioxide gas is forcedly exhausted to the outside after agitation in the discharge space. Since the carbon dioxide gas is exhausted before the heating temperature increases up to the melting starting temperature T1, the efficiency of gas exhaustion is enhanced. Since no evacuation device is newly provided, complication of the device configuration is prevented. In order to exhaust the carbon dioxide gas, an agitation effect inside the panel is used without using a difference pressure between an internal pressure and an external pressure of the panel, which enables to exhaust carbon dioxide gas in a center portion of the panel to the outside without taking enough time.
