A sewing machine for forming a button hole is provided to have one mes and two hammers and to form a bird's eye shape hole by a hammer and the mes. A cloth presser is supported by a transfer stand. A mes is arranged at the lower portion of the cloth. The first hammer(24) is located oppositely to the upper portion of the mes. The shape of the second hammer is different from that of the first hammer. A hammer transfer member transfers the second hammer between the waiting position and the operating position of the first hammer at the horizontal direction. The hammer transfer member includes the first transfer unit as an air cylinder(49) for moving the second hammer(45) up and down. The second transfer unit as an air cylinder(53) moves the second hammer forward and backward between the middle position and the operating position. The clogged button hole is opened by the operation of the second hammer.
